Kakha Kakhishvili hosted ambassador of Turkey
Minister of Corrections Kakha Kakhsivhili hosted newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Georgia Fatma Ceren Yazgan.

The Minister congratulated the ambassador on the start of the mission and expressed his readiness for their cooperation. According to Mr. Kakhishvili, Turkey is a neighboring and strategic partner of Georgia that is proved by strong political, economic and cultural ties connecting the two countries.

According to Kakha Kakhishvili, conditions of Georgian probationers serving their sentences in Turkey are the priority for the Ministry. Kakha Kakhishvili expressed his initiative that probationer citizens of Georgia serving their sentence in Turkey should return to their country to avoid social-economic problems. A working group will be formed between Georgia and Turkey in the shortest period, to achieve the legal agreement on this issue.

“The following issue can be settled by either relevant legislative amendments in the Republic of Turkey or bilateral agreements. Besides, we are ready to host our Turkish colleagues and share our experience regarding implemented reforms and achievements over the last five years, in the penitentiary system of Georgia including the penitentiary health and some innovations” – noted the Minister.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Georgia Fatma Ceren Yazgan thanked the Ministry of Corrections for exclusive close relations and the support towards the Turkish side.
“We discussed many important issues at the meeting which have a direct impact on our citizens' well-being. Of course, we expect further deepening of relations and achieving concrete results" – said the Ambassador.

The parties agreed to implement bilateral training and work visits, to exchange experiences regarding resocialization and reintegration programs for inmates’ penitentiary health care and the efficient management of the prison systems.
